What happens with 4.0

Hi all, although it seems that I'm not doing anything, every day I spend some time with the mod. Sometimes only five minutes (open the editor, open photoshop and I have to close it) and sometimes I'm almost two hours at night. But whenever I go.

I know I said I needed a few more days, but 15 days are a few days, right?

The imminent arrival of Crysis 3 made me think MaLDoHD for Crysis 2 will make no sense soon, so I can not think it as something upgradeable. I have to release the final-final version with "almost" all I want to put inside, because surely no one want to use the mod after Crysis 3 release.

I have also seen releasing a beta is dangerous, because people do not want use it as "beta" but as a final version. So demanding patches, to play through all the game with a patched beta. Doing so has the risk that then they will not want to test the final version because they "already played all the mod".

Those days I don't write on the blog because writing and taking/reducind/uploading/linking screenshots requires spending time. And right now I do not have that time. If I have 15 minutes, I'd rather prefer spend it with the mod instead of writing for 10 minutes what I modded in 5.

I know there are many people who think this is getting longer too. It's true. But to understand it you have to understand what the mod is for me.

It's not a defined work, I have not a boss who has imposed me a deadline. I have no salary and I don't have fixed number of hours I can spend everyday. And most importantly, I do like to go for learning new things.

That means that, although I know that there are people waiting, my main goal is not to serve them. In doing so, this would not have been even half of what it is. And I want to be proud of the mod, I do not regret releasing anything by halves.

And I can hardly give a full stop because that means I'm going to stop enjoying the creation process. Another goal for the mod is performance. It's a must my computer have to run all the game at locked 60 fps using recomended settings (with SDAO, tesselation, parallax, real time reflexions, extreme shadows, ...).

Here are some screenshots. Most of them don't have the original version to compare (maybe I will add originals later). Only show a part of the new textures and changes in levels and some of them need a few little fixes before release.

For example, in this part into Battery Park level, I've added crashed cars, a van, more puddles, decals, etc.
